Needing a change, she decided to take sales to a different level and sell houses. This was another opportunity to work with people, which she enjoys, to find them the perfect home. Gwen has also recently become a Provisional Appraiser, which is intertwined with Real Estate.
She is proud to represent The Washington Agency as an agent.
In that difficult housing environment, she sold her first home using creativity to make the deal work for both parties. Since her first sale, Nancy has been unstoppable. Today, 85 to 90 percent of her loyal clients are either repeat or referral business.
Prior to embarking on a successful real estate career, Nancy’s professional background was diverse and in her own words “a bit quirky.” Her resume includes parts manager for her family’s lawnmower/snow blower business, waitress in Rockefeller Center NYC, tenant organizer, receptionist in a major New York City law firm, and supervisor in charge of rehabbing more than 60 apartments in the South Bronx. With each and every position, Nancy viewed the job as an opportunity to learn, hone her people skills, and develop her customer service talents. This approach has paid-off, giving her the work ethic, ingenuity and interpersonal skills to be a successful real estate agent.
In addition to her GRI, Nancy holds a bachelor’s degree in English. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with cum laude honors from the City University of New York. Nancy also brings her energy and commitment to the local community. Her leadership abilities have been recognized by her peers in the Real Estate industry: she has been chosen Chairperson of the Grievance Committee of Litchfield County Board of Realtors as well as having been a candidate for the prestigious Realtor of the Year Award. She volunteers in her town for the Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Commission and was a founding member of Friends of Torrington Education. She volunteers for Friendly Hands Food Bank, a non-profit organization that provides services to the working poor (individuals who are low income but do not qualify for government assistance). She volunteers in a mentoring program for a young at-risk girls in the foster care system. She is also a volunteer for the Birth to Graduation program, helping young parents raise successful children. On the personal side, Nancy enjoys watercolor painting, graphite drawing, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, hiking, cooking and baking. She is one of six children and today is proud of her son and daughter as well as her many nieces and nephews. Nancy credits her organizational skills to her mother Marge Schroeder and her people proficiencies to her father Walt (Tweet) Schroeder. She concludes that both of her parents ingrained in her the importance of honesty and treating people fairly.
Lisa has ten years of experience in the building material industry. She is familiar with roofing, insulation and gypsum materials. She also spent fifteen years working in the construction industry. Having family in the construction field, she is also familiar with foundation and septic work. Lisa spent two years in the banking business and has knowledge concerning loans and mortgages. She feels her background in these careers is a benefit when working with her real estate clients.
In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, taking her dogs for walks and time at the beach. She enjoys volunteering her time at community events and being involved at her church.
